Shane "Bo" Leonard was a proud member of the Southwood High School Class of 1986. Known affectionately to his family and friends as "Bo," he was a devoted husband and father who built a full and adventurous life far from the halls where his classmates first knew him.
Shane had a deep love of travel, and that spirit led him around the world. He made his home in the Philippines, where he lived with his beloved wife and children. His work took him far afield — most recently to South Sudan in Africa — but his family always remained the center of his world.
It was while working abroad that Shane contracted malaria. He returned home to the Philippines, where he fell ill a few days later. Despite the efforts of his family and the doctors who cared for him, he could not be saved in time. Shane passed away on August 19, 2025.
He is remembered with deep love by his wife and children, his brother, and the family and friends who carry his memory forward. In the words his brother shared: may he go to a greater rest than he has ever known, in the arms of those who went before him. He is mourned, he is missed, and he will always be a part of the SHS Class of 1986.
